The Elos Technology Hair Removal
What is Elos?
ELOS stands for electro optical synergy and
combines bipolar conducted electric
current with
optical (light) energy.
What is the Elos Advantage?
Elos technology provides hair removal for all
skin and hair types. Compared to earlier
IPL technology,
there is less blistering, scabbing,
crusting and hyper/hypopigmentation,
reduced redness
and inflammation and less pain.
Why is Elos technology more effective
than standard IPL?
By emitting the optical pulse and electric pulse
at the same time, the net effect is
to force the electric
energy to stream preferentially to the
regions of the dermis pre-heated by
the absorbed
light, producing a greater and more
focused thermal effect than a single
pulse of high
energy light. With
less intense light energy there are less
burning risks and the synergistic coupling
of energies
means that each pulse can be delivered
for a longer period of time than standard
IPL – yielding improved results.
Is treatment with Elos technology
safe?
Treatment is relatively safe. There are many
advances in the new Elos technology
that make it
one of the safest hair removal systems
available, for all skin types and hair
colours. There
are no long-term health hazards and
both light and electric energy have
been used
for decades in medicine, surgery and
aesthetics without adversity.
Elos Technology – FAQs
Hair Removal How
does the Elos technology get rid of
hair?
Gentle light and electric energies combine to damage
the hair follicle. This disables the
follicle from growing hair,
which means that gradually over several
treatments, there is a long-term reduction
in the amount
of hair in that area.
What kind of results can be expected
from Elos hair removal treatment?
Each treatment will result in less hair coming back, as
well as hair growing progressively lighter
in colour, becoming
finer and also slowing regrowth. It takes
more than one treatment to affect all
the follicles growing
in an area. Most people achieve satisfactory
clearance after 4-8 treatments, however,
individual results
vary depending on medical and genetic
factors. Lighter coloured hair may require
more treatments
than darker coloured hair.
How frequently do hair removal
treatments with Elos technology
need to be
performed?
Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 4-8
treatments, which are usually performed
every 1-2 months.
This depends on individual factors that the
practitioner will discuss during consultation.
How does hair removal with Elos
technology feel?
The sensation is often described as a ‘hot pinch’ or
‘snapping’ feeling. The sensation
only lasts for a fraction
of a second and warmth and/or a tingling
sensation is experienced for a short
time afterward. Most
people tolerate treatment without any topical
anaesthetic, but individuals who are
more sensitive may
prefer to have their skin numbed before treatment.
What happens after each Elos hair
removal treatment?
Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time
and most people return to work or normal
activities immediately
after treatment. The treated area will
‘shed’ some hairs over the next 3-4
weeks and there may
be a short period of irregular hairlessness in the
area until the conclusion of treatments.
Who is suitable for Elos hair removal
treatment?
Anyone seeking a long-term solution to shaving,
waxing, plucking or electrolysis. There
are a few medical
conditions that contraindicate people from
treatment that the practitioner will
discuss during consultation.
